New Email Archiving with Seamless Outlook Integration Solutions Solve Compliance

March. 2, 2009

SUNNYVALE, CA - Mirapoint®, the secure-messaging experts, today announced a new line of its RazorSafe email archiving appliances that includes an updated software release. With the newly updated RazorSafe user interface customers can quickly and easily, with a few simple clicks, set up parameters for compliance issues and requirements -- including legal holds, confidentiality notifications, advanced search, and custom email tags.

New compliance laws are a reality and can affect any enterprise. "Although financial institutions, healthcare-related firms and government agencies face some of the more stringent requirements for data retention, virtually all firms are subject to data retention requirements of various types,"(i) warns Osterman Research

The expanded functionality of the latest Mirapoint RazorSafe hardware and software continues to reduce the complexity users have in implementing and managing effective archiving, search, and retrieval solutions. The tools focus on placing the support for compliance into the normal course of day-to-day activities.

"In the wake of Zubulake and Morgan Stanley, it's increasingly clear that courts (and opportunistic legal counsel) will demand a fairly high degree of IT savvy from attorneys involved in the discovery of ESI [Electronically Stored Information]," states LexisNexis.(ii)

Mirapoint's ability to improve and streamline archiving allows even those organizations that do not consider themselves technically savvy to feel assured that they are fulfilling the new compliance and legal hold requirements.

Compliance, Integration, Messaging Combined in one Appliance

This is the first major upgrade to the RazorSafe line of archiving appliances since the Mirapoint acquisition of Intradyn in 2008.

"Burton Group believes that communications channels, such as secure messaging, should be closely integrated with archiving and compliance solutions to deliver the functionality needed to meet compliance and audit discovery requirements," said analyst Randall Gamby of Burton Group. "By adding the Intradyn compliance solutions to Mirapoint's product offerings, Mirapoint has taken a big step towards meeting these needs, especially for the OEM and SMB/SME marketplaces."

With the newly updated RazorSafe appliances, Mirapoint's customers may now choose from even more powerful solutions for meeting compliance regulations affecting businesses of all sizes. Its expanded RazorSafe 200, 400, and 6000 product line adds seamless integration with email clients including Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes, Novell GroupWise on top of existing web access, and supports all major email servers, including Microsoft Exchange, Novell GroupWise, Lotus Domino, and Mirapoint Message Server.

Newest RazorSafe Provides Elegant Solution, Low Total Cost of Ownership

The new RazorSafe software release, v4.2, provides additional features such as advanced legal hold and confidentiality notification capabilities, allowing customers to more effectively and cost-efficiently manage cases regarding legally sensitive email messages and enforce policies around data retention. Additional advanced search features and email tagging provide for optimized email management.

The RazorSafe 200, 400, and 6000 series archiving appliances provide additional price performance, with up to 7TB of disk capacity and 32GB of RAM and are designed to provide large enterprises the capacity to manage compliance/audit, e-discovery, and mail management while ensuring low Total Cost of Ownership. List pricing for the models starts at $17,995.

Compliance Laws Not Going Away

A January 2009 study by Osterman Research(iii), placed "email archiving" at the top of the list of technology areas expected to see increased IT spending throughout 2009, highlighting the importance customers place in the need and value of solutions that meet regulatory, legal, and email management needs in a cost-effective way.

"In today's economy, meeting legal and compliance obligations is a huge challenge for companies," said Jeff Witous, CEO of Mirapoint. "This release of new products and functionality ensures that our customers will more effectively manage risk, by focusing on support for legal discovery and optimized searching. Once again, Mirapoint provides additional performance at a low TCO."
